The European Unity Walk is a unique initiative by the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA). By bringing together various sections of our society – namely, people with Parkinson’s and their families, healthcare professionals and patient organisations, European policymakers, the treatment industry, the general public, and the media – the event aims to raise the awareness of Parkinson’s disease across Europe and highlight its effects, which have an impact across nearly every cultural, social and economic boundary. The EPDA believes that raising awareness of Parkinson’s is the best way to encourage positive change for people living with the disease and their families
The EPDA hopes that the 2014 European Unity Walk will continue to inspire other European Parkinson’s disease organisations to adopt this event and launch their own similar initiatives in the years to come. We hope that in the future thousands of people will come together on the same day each year to take part in regional events similar to this one – always working together to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and its effects.
